Ablation of a subpopulation of neurons using a two-photon laser

A pretectal nucleus (nucleus pretectalis superficialis pars magnocellularis, or PSm) was laser ablated bilaterally using Zeiss two photon laser microscope. The movie shows EGFP fluorescent images of a 4 day old zebrafish larval brain before (left) and after (right) laser ablation. Forebrain, tectum, pretectum (PSm), preglomerular nuclei, and cerebellum are genetically labeled in this gal4 line, gSAIzGFFM119B.
